NSW coach Laurie Daley has confirmed Jack Bird will start at five-eighth in State of Origin III.

Bird will play in the Blues' halves alongside Cronulla teammate James Maloney at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday night after Adam Reynolds was ruled out with a shoulder injury.

However, Daley said interchange utility Matt Moylan would likely get an even share of the pivot role with Bird.
