St George Illawarra coach Paul McGregor has backed injured star Josh Dugan to make an improbable comeback to the NSW team for game two of the State of Origin series on Wednesday week.
Just one week into what was supposed to be at least a four-week recovery from elbow surgery, McGregor said Dugan has made great strides in his bid to take on Queensland after missing game one.
"I could never write him off. You're never sure with Josh. He's a competitor. He'll give himself every chance. He could make it, definitely," McGregor said on Friday.
